Almost one year has passed since the last version of Erihon Blogger was released. Ever since the 0.2.3 have been released Erihon's team had plans for further development of the 0.2.x series. Why any of those plans didn't happen?
The answer is simple - lack of time and several issues in our source code. All versions prior to 0.3.0 had one flaw - absence of modularity. We know that we have announced several fixes for the modularity issues, unfortunately for us those fixes didn't help us with the design flaw within the core of Erihon Blogger.
Several months ago Erihon dev-team decided to continue its work on Erihon Blogger. We decided that we are going to rewrite the entire Blogger system from scratch. This time we though a bit more for design of the system. The current version is still behind in some features that 0.2.3 has offered: missing calendar module, missing listblogs module, and more...
Here is the current CHANGELOG:
• using abstract database layer
(currently supports PostgreSQL only)
• login / logout system
• different security levels
• search engine
• modules for moderation of comments (deleting and modifying)
• support of multiple themes
• support of multiple menus (up to four)
• flexible and configurable menus
• blog visual design is now configurable within the database (menus, margins, title, etc)
• support of keywords for each entry
• fixed the RSS feed, so it now outputs only limited count of entries
• better module for adding new entries (now supports entry moderation and status options, as well as the keywords)
Still the 0.3.0 final version is behind us. In the next versions we will continue porting old features as well as some new ones. Here are the current release plans:
• alpha versions -
marked as A - versions that will be introducing mostly old features and fixes on bugs
• pre-beta versions -
marked as I - versions that will be introducing new features, which were not available in the versions prior to 0.3.0
• beta versions -
marked as B- as soon as we have all the features that we are planning to introduce we will commence a typical 'freeze' on our code, and we will be doing just fixes on bugs and issues.
• pre-release versions -
marked as RC - finals tests on the current system
• final version - the long awaited 0.3.0
